Mandag d. 24/9/2007 - 18:04 Last week we also visited Kystbanen. I've never been before at this shop so I was pleasantly surprised to find a good shop, with a lot of models.
What surprised me even more was that customers could take the boxes with locos out of the shelves. In Holland this is nowadays unthinkable (here you have to ask an employee to take a loce out of the box).
This shop also has a nice place to sit down. And this time my wife was offered some coffee as well (and some locals, who've been sitting there for ours were apparantly 'thrown out' - sorry guys! 
).
One of the good things about Denmark is that almost everybody is willing to speak English as soon as you make clear that - unfortunately - you don't speak Danish).
So I was helped in a friendly and professionaly way and bought myself a Hobbytrade loco (Tagab MZ 108).

I'm not suprised by your great experience with the friendly personel in Kystbanen. They are the best, even if you don't buy something when you visit.

Kystbanen flyttede til større lokaler i maj måned, og de har planer om at handle med brugt tog i kælderen. De har fortalt mig, at de agter at tage realistiske priser for brugt modeltog - altså på niveau med f.eks. QXL-auktioner.
Og jeg er enig i at Kystbanen er utroligt venlige, servicemindede - og de har en kvalitet, som jeg bestemt ikke har mødt i mange af de andre butikker:
De giver sig tid til på en imødekommende måde, at vejlede nybegyndere.

At de snakker om priser ala QXL, lyder ikke lovende i mine øjne, for jeg syntes der findes alt for mange ting på QXL, som er vildt overskuet og for dyre.

Det er vist ikke lige de mest opskruede emner ... men mere et modtræk til nogle butikker, som gerne tager næsten dobbelt op i forhold til QXL.
Men alt brugthandel handler jo om udbud og efterspørgsel. Og nogle ting er sjældne og de kan høste en høj pris.

Congratulations with your new train!
I am not suprised either. I also meet the personel of Kystbanen very friendly, however yet I only ordered stuff from them that I requested by sending them an e-mail. Probably I owe myself to visit a such good shop.
The time I ordered my MZ 1459 (as Voller has here: http://modeltog.voller.dk/models/view.aspx?i=17), there was a broken part on it when I recieved it, near the coupler in the front. Their words here was "Just return it, and we'll send a new one for you".
Hobbykælderen and Kystbanen are in the top of my favorites. Such service as they provide, seems to be lack for some other sellers..

You're right there Arne: Hobbykælderen is also very good.
Tomas Voller recommended Hobbykælderen to me and so we also went to this shop. Since we were only on sunday and monday on Jutland I mailed them to ask whether it would be possible to visit them though they're normaly not open on mondays.
Well, no problem at all. Peer had all my stuff ready and his wife helped me in a very friendly way (Peer was on Samos, again
)
You guys are extremely lucky with good shops like these. In earlier years I've been to Felderbanen (even when this shop was still in Christiansfeld). Jan is a nice guy and he has a good shop.
Last year we visited Aalborg and so I've also been to Tog & Tekno and to Hobbykæden. They're both good as well. Ken Rosa is also a nice guy. As a matter of fact until now I've never been disappointed about the shops in your country. But then again, I'm always on holliday when I'm in Denmark and so I'm in a good mood.

Actualy I've been twelve times in Denmark (since 1998).
Funny fact: Our Danish friends last told us that we've probably seen more of the country, than they have!
Next time I might go to the modelrailroadshop in Randers. And maybe the new one in Odense (somewhere near the Railroad Museum). Are they any good?
